10 Months!

10 Months!

I think I say this every month, but this is all going by a little fast, isn’t it?

In the last month, this boy has hit quite the developmental growth spurt.  Sitting up!  Standing (with some help)!  Crawling out of the bathtub!  It’s amazing to think of all the little things he does every day with ease that he couldn’t do just a few weeks ago.  It’s also a little scary to think of all that we need to do around here to make our home a little safer for this soon to be mobile, busy little man.

The best part of watching him grow, though, is seeing his personality develop.  He’s funny, and silly and can charm the pants off of almost anyone.  He even knows all the tricks to woo the checkout ladies in the grocery store.  I’m pretty sure this kid is gonna break some hearts.  Lock up your daughters, folks!

9 Months!

9 Months!

Does this picture blow anyone else’s mind?  I mean, 9 months?!  How is that even possible?  Didn’t we just get home from the hospital, like, 10 minutes ago?

But boy oh boy, this boy!  He is so amazing.  With him, every day is an adventure, every day is joy.  And even though he woke me up this morning by puking in my hair, I love every second I get to spend with him.  Baby, I’m the lucky one.

Today’s Fun Things

Baby's first froyoFrozen yogurt!

E and I braved the heat today to head to the park and try out the swings for the first time.  We didn’t get to stay for long thanks to the extreme temperatures so we used the rest of our afternoon to hit up the frozen yogurt place for a cool down.  I don’t know which of the two he loved more.  Both were a major hit, though I think I may have spoiled his dinner a bit with the frozen yogurt.

Clean Up on Aisle Four

The baby and I are at the grocery store, contemplating soup selections when I hear something wet hit the floor.  I look down to see small, clear puddles at my feet and feel a warm trickle tracing its way down my leg.

In a sign that I watch too much tv, my immediate first thought was, “OMG, my water just broke and I didn’t know I was pregnant!” I am not even kidding you, I nearly panicked right then in there in the middle if the ethnic foods aisle.

My next thought, several seconds later, after logic and reasoning had regained control, was the equally panic-inducing fear that maybe I had lost control of my bladder and wet myself.  “But I didn’t even have to pee,” I thought.  “How did this even happen?!”

Proof positive of my novice motherhood status/lack of sleep/dimwittedness, the absolute very last thought to enter my mind, even after considering residual rain droplets and checking the soup can I was holding for puddles, was that the child I had strapped to my chest had just experienced a major diaper fail and had relieved himself all over me.  That’s right, folks, he peed on me.  And now that pee was on the floor and I was without a diaper bag or any clean up options whatsoever (we were only running in for a few items so who needs a diaper bag?)  What do you do?

Well, I’ll tell you what I did.  I put the soup can back on the shelf, ran my foot over the puddles in an attempt to clear the mess and promptly moved on.  Yeah, that’s right, I left it.  And I didn’t alert anyone to the mess, either.   I was mortified and, honestly, thought the better option would be to just pay and leave before anything else came leaking from the baby’s hindside.

What would you have done?  Improvise a cleaning device?  Tell a store employee?  Never have left the diaper bag at home in the first place?  Do tell.

7 Months!

7 Months!

Today, my dear boy, you are seven months. That means you are closer to one than you are to zero and THAT completely blows my mind. I cannot believe how quickly time is passing and yet, I can hardly remember a time without you.

The last month has been a busy one for you.  You sat on your own, rolled over, went swimming and visited the shore, all for the very first time.  You are a charmer and you love to be in front of you adoring public.  I have had to learn how to graciously accept compliments as they are constantly given out by the strangers we come across on our daily adventures.  If I could just get you to nap consistently, things would be perfect.

You are our special and amazing boy and I love every moment we get to spend with you.  Love you bunches, baby babe.

Friday Five: Beach Bum Edition

  1. Baby E and I just got home after a week at the beach.  We had a great time catching up with old friends, eating chocolate cake for breakfast, lazing in the sun (me) and basking in the glowing admiration of every, single person we came across (him).  You can see a few pictures from our trip in our Life’s a Beach flickr set.
  2. There are many things one thinks about when traveling alone with a baby – what to pack, where to stop along the way, etc.  One thing I failed to consider on the trip down to the beach was how to use the restroom without an extra set of hands or the use of the stroller (which was buried under our stuff and was WAY to big and bulky to lug out for a trip to the toilet).  I ultimately decided to use the baby carrier and, well, that was an experience for both us.
  3. My birthday weekend last week was amazing.  So great I almost forgot I was turning 30.  Ebin and I had a delicious dinner out, ALONE, on Friday and then came home and crashed on the couch.  Romantic, no?  The next day, we shopped a bit and then headed out for what I thought was a celebratory lunch with a few friends.  It was instead my very first (and very best) ever Surprise! party.  I still can’t believe how good all of my friends and family were at lying to my face and how easily I bought into their deceptions.  I might be worried if I wasn’t so touched.
  4. Look at this baby:

    Those Eyes!

Look at those eyes. He is so breathtaking, I can’t believe he’s mine.  This was taken at a very fancy restaurant on Thursday night and I can’t even believe how well he handled to whole situation.  He was so quiet and content and he just sat there, wooing everyone around him.  Lock your daughters up, people.  This kid is a heartbreaker.

  5. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, especially my own dear husband who is the best dad a baby could ask for.  Thank you, babE, for everything you do for us.  We love you!
